In most industrial work environments, soundproof cabins are essential. In fact, CSST or Health Canada occupational health and safety standards make them mandatory in a variety of professional contexts. Their main advantage is that they prevent occupational hearing impairments and make the workplace both more comfortable and more productive.
Exposure to noise can have two kinds of effects on health: auditory (hearing loss, tinnitus, acoustic trauma, temporary or permanent hearing loss) and non-auditory (stress, physiological effects and related behaviour, security risks).
Permanent hearing loss due to noise is the main risk associated with noise exposure in the workplace. (Source: Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety.)
